‘The Rise Of…’ was originally released in 2005 and is (almost) the album that started it all for Creep Creepersin, who is better known these days as the director of about a dozen direct-to-video horror films such as ‘Caged Lesbians A Go Go’ and ‘The Corporate Cut Throat Massacre’. If you’re into the general concept of horror-punk, you could do a lot worse than Creepersin, whose lyrics are amongst the best in the genre and whose musical proficiencies are clear. The most striking thing about this album to me—and, to be fair, I’m not saying that this is a bad thing at all—is that it sounds exactly like a collection of Misfits 45 RPM singles playing at 33 RPM. Or possibly even a bit slower than that. It’s more than a little strange, but also quite compelling. The Impaler
