Seventh Void – Heaven Is Gone
Seventh Void – Heaven Is Gone CD (Napalm Records)
Metal – Brooklyn style. Featuring two former members of Type O Negative; Seventh Void venture beyond the dark metal trappings of their previous inception to produce some quality metal with nods to New Jersey’s stoner kings Solace, Black Label Society, and even shades of Soundgarden on the vocals, especially on ‘The End of All Time’ and ‘Under a Broken Sky’, both of which could be outtakes from the sessions that produced ‘Limo Wreck’ and ‘Mailman’, with vocalist/guitarist Kenny Hickey putting in a sterling performance. With not a weak track among the ten (quite an achievement these days and a testimony to the bands pedigree), highlights being the title track, the aforementioned Seattleite sound-alike’s and ‘Shadow on Me’ on which the band do their best take on Sabbath’s Lord of This World’.
