Battle! – Closer/Further 7″ EP (Burn Bridges)
Beautiful cover art but sadly the music is rather generic screamo, metallic, post hardcore, rather like the UK’s Fights and Fires (but not as interesting) or many IATDE bands. If that’s your cup of Joe then you may well enjoy these five tracks, but it left me feeling rather underwhelmed and disappointed that so many bands feel the need to slot right in to some pre-set genre without any attempt at originality. Is that too much to ask? Ian Pickens
