Hard to believe it’s over 20 years since I first heard the blistering speed metal of Destruction on the ‘Speed Kills Volume 1’ compilation. That track (Bestial Invasion) hasn’t aged particularly well but I’m pleased to say the band has, as this timely reissue of this 2001 album proves. Opening track ‘Thrash Till Death’ sets the stall for the 11 tracks which follow. A high velocity thrash attack which combines the bands trademark speed with technical (but not self indulgent) riffing and Schmier’s frenzied, larynx scraping vocals. Younger fans of neo-thrash merchants such as Municipal Waste and Warpath would be well advised to check out Destruction, you won’t be disappointed. Ian Pickens
