The Real McKenzies

The Real McKenzies

MM: Hey guys, so what has been going on with the band recently? What are your plans for the next few months?
Paul: We’ve been touring with all the thrills, chills and spills as expected, we are a touring rock and roll band and we expect rock and roll. We will do another record and tour it and run around all willy-nilly until we don’t do it anymore, and that time will be never.

MM: So can you tell us how you all met and the history of the band to this point?
Paul: It has been over twenty years since I started this interesting venture and there has been over one hundred band mates over the years, I am a loving compassionate individual and I wish all of them the best, the line up right now is as close or closer than family .I am in full support and working with my rock and roll family, let there be rock and roll.

MM: Tell us about the recording process of your new record – how was it this time round? How would you say this record is different from your previous records?
Paul: The last record is history, I am at rest with the way it turned out. The next record will be an astounding revelation for me and I cannot wait to write it, record it and tour it.

MM: What are the best and worst things about life in the band?
Paul: I have worked straight jobs, and I have taken in between work to perpetuate this rock and roll dream…The same one we want to have the whole world dreaming of. The only thing I have is this, I have given up all else… So lets go!

MM: What is the strangest or best thing (whatever makes a better answer!) that’s happened to you.Alternatively, what is the strangest request or experience you’ve had from / involving a fan?
Paul: I would be ready to answer this question but I am afraid of incriminating myself, but thanks anyways

MM: Whose music have you been listening recently to apart from your own?
Paul: Municipal Waste, Jerry Reed, Charley Parker, Portugese virtuosos on stringed instruments, Johnny Coltrane and a whole host of others

MM: What would you like to be doing as a band and as a person / people in five years time?
Paul: Exactly what we are doing right now except with a huge Zepplin shaped like a haggis to tour and wow the world ‘cause they tell us that they love us.

MM: If you could change or make one law what would it be?
Paul: All should be reviewed

MM: If you were asked to headline a festival and you could have any five musicians or bands from the past or present to play with you, who would you choose?
Paul: Oh…that is an easy one. All you have to do, is look at a band photo and you will clearly see what my answer shall be. Thanks for all and don t forget that the Real Mckenzies love you… Paul.
