Primitive grindcore is thriving in the far East. Countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and South-Korea have a small, but vibrant scene. Even the tiny country of Singapore is capable of grunting along, and do so with Wormrot. It’s a good mixture of blastbeats, grunts and screams, and some pure hardcore. These ingredients make Wormrot, for a grind act, a pretty structured band, obviously influenced by Napalm Death’ earlier releases. On disc one it’s all new material, with a really clear production, something you don’t find all that often in this genre. Besides, it also sounds fresh, which isn’t a word used all that often with grind either. Disc two is all about 34 of the band’s older songs, that were unleased between 2007 and 2009.
