I can’t thank our editor The Impaler enough for sending this CD over. It’s an instant classic which might very well make my ‘Best of 2010’ list. RAZR13’s self-titled debut has as lot of variety and styles going on, but the strong point with every song is dUg Pinnick. Pinnick, of King’s X fame, has been put in the most vulnerable position, right up front in the mix. And he can take it, boy, can he! The amazing melodies and emotions just creep into your ears and grab ever fibre of your brain and heart. Musically it can go from hard-hitting stoner to melodic grunge to sleazy southern rock, but again it’s dUg who makes an everlasting impression. And I’ve just got to compliment Big Bald Mike, Ryan 13, and JRAB for providing the right foundation. There’s no ‘I’ in band, and they know it. It’s a magical vibe they create and for that there’s no room for egos. Martijn Welzen
