When I was asked to put together a ‘Top 5 of 2009’ list I immediately cringed. I love so much music that that category on its own seemed too difficult to keep down to just five. As I researched to make sure my choices were actually from 2009 I realized one thing. I’m not as current as I thought. The DVD list is short because I haven’t seen most of what was released on DVD this year. We’ve been using Netflix here at the house and have been working our way through older movies instead of the more recent cinematic masterpieces. It also became clear that I don’t like very much new music. I have a few new favorites but most of my favorite bands don’t release albums anymore due to varying circumstances. The Ramones are mostly dead. Acid Bath is long gone due to a death. Pantera died long before Dimebag’s premature demise. I guess I’m kind of old school. Or maybe I’m just old. Oh well, here goes anyway.
