I had a conversation with our deputy editor, Martijn a while back about thrash bands, and the way we each preferred a slightly different style. Whereas Martijn preferred the more polished, balanced and well produced bands (Death Angel, Forbidden etc.), I thought that bands who pushed the envelope, increasing the speed and riffs of each of their sings until they nearly collapsed in on themselves in overwhelming surge of chaos and try as hard as we might, we couldn’t come up with a band that married both styles. Until now. Until Mantic Ritual. These guys should be thrash titans, as they’ve managed to combine Dark Angel, Slayer, Kreator and the entire contingent of Bay Area thrash bands in an incredible unholy thrash barrage that’ll pound away at you until there’s nothing but a perverse desire to thrash left. We can rebuild the thrash scene, make it faster, harder, better, and we shall call our new thrash god Mantic Ritual, and its will and rabid thrash fury shall infect all whom come into contact with it.
