I’ve always believed that metal should stretch itself, should smash through musical boundaries and cast aside any and all limitations, and Ensiferum are a perfect example of this. The battle metal titans have written an album rammed full of HUGE anthems that effortlessly melds blistering metal with traditional folk music, leading the charge of the burgeoning battle metal scene, reaching out for the heights that I’ve always wanted, and known that metal can and should reach. If this is the sound of battle, then may the war that gave birth to Ensiferum rage for a thousand years and never end. Damn, this record is good…Tim Mass Movement
