Kabul Golf Club – Le Bal Du Rat Mort MCD (Uproar For Veneration)
In the early 90s I went pretty crazy over bands like Victims Family and NoMeansNo. The insanity and intensity of both bands music incorporated so many unwritten rules, that I always thought that some solicitor should have looked into their musical affairs. In 2012, there’s a new, young Belgian band with the great name Kabul Golf Club who have the the guts to not only blend the noise of the two aforementioned bands, but they also attempt crushing everything else with influences from Jane’s Addiction, Refused, the power of lost souls and unfulfilled dreams and to start rebuilding songs from the debris that’s been scattered around them. This insane mix will leave you grasping for air like a trout in the desert. There are only five songs on ‘Le Bal’, which is a good thing as you need to book yourself into therapy simply to understand that not only is it possible to listen to such an incredible fusion, but it’s also possible to fall in love with it… Martijn Welzen
