Shield recordings signed the very promising Dutch band The Road Home for the (re)release of their “Old Hearts” EP.
The Road Home was formed early 2011 by four friends when they decided to pick up their instruments to jam. Drawing influences from old timers like Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen on one side and from contemporaries The Gaslight Anthem, Social Distortion, the Loved Ones and Alkaline Trio on the other.
The Road Home played 50 shows in the first year, doing supports for Drive Like Maria(BE), King Cannons (AUS) and Reno Divorce(USA).
In March 2012 the “Old Hearts” EP was released which was very well received! 5 songs filled with catchy hooks built on a raw foundation of Punkrock. From radio friendly ‘Old Hearts’ (featuring guest vocals by Shield Recordings recording artist Tim Vantol) to the up tempo ‘Rivals’. The Road Home takes you on a journey through 5 songs dealing with lost love, despair, solitude and hometown Enschede, sometimes bitter, always hopefull.
We at Shied Recordings we’re blown away when we heard “Old Hearts” and when The Road Home asked us to help (re) release the EP we couldn’t say anything else than HELL YEAH.
Shield Recordings will (re) release “Old Hearts” as MCD but also on vinyl for the first time. Be on the lookout for a pretty looking one sided 12 inch, with special artwork. The MCD is available right now. Pre-orders for the 12 inch will be up in 2-3 weeks (as soon as we get the exact delivery date from the pressing plant).
