Pandemonium – Misanthropy CD

Pandemonium – Misanthropy CD (Visual Art)
Well, out of the four Polish Death and Black Metal tinged CD’s landing on my lap this time around, Misanthropy one is my favourite. This is mainly because it has the perfect mix of bat shit mental Dark Metal vocals, Death Metal growls and catchy, driving Blackened Death Metal arrangements. The first track kicks off with what sounds like Crowbar’s Kirk Windstein after thirty beers joined by that insane harridan from Bethlehem, you know, the one that scream-moans in suicidal agony. Awesome. Essentially what we have is a wall of mostly mid-paced Black Metal stomping, given a sliver of undead life by the varied shrieks, spoken word passages and beautiful, ethereal female vocals that colour, in black and white, the musical movements. It’s like someone has finally morphed Celtic Frost’s better albums into a BM blender, with the likes of GGFH, and found a beautiful and sick natural sound of its own. And no, that’s not Satyricon. If anything Pandemonium could have gone easier on the occasionally typewriter sounding kick drums, but they’re not show stoppers. Misanthropy is expansive and impressive, claustrophobic, yet highly enjoyable. Recommended! Chest Rockwell
