All Out War – Truth In The Age Of Lies

All Out War – Truth In The Age Of Lies CD (Organized Crime)
In the early 90s All Out War were one of the few bands that could combine hardcore and metal without sounding almost completely like a metal band, the New York band, comprising equal parts Cro Mags and Slayer, combining both HC and metal to devastating effect. Their debut ‘Truth In The Age Of Lies’ was released, in 1997, through the now defunct Gain Records from Germany and at the time it caused quite a stir, the aggression and power were a rarity back then, as hard and heavy metal core was still in it’s infancy. It was also something Victory records noticed, as the label then took the band under its wings from 1998 onwards. The debut, the record that made it all happen, got lost in the mist of time. However, there’s always someone who knows the importance of a release like this and 15 years down the line Organized Crime have given the album another lease of life, and have included five bonus tracks taken from the 1992 demo. Is All Out War’s debut still as relevant today? I wasn’t too sure, but hearing these songs again at high volume, it’s amazing how well they have stood the test of time. And they can, and should, find a new audience. Martijn Welzen
