Mekong Delta – Intersections CD (Steamhammer/SPV)
So from the classic 80s metal era Mekong Delta return. Having originally missed this band (to my own mistake – probably just lack of vinyl funding) I now have the chance to (re)visit these guys. ‘Intersections’ offers re-recordings of some classics (and I do like that approach) with an old vibe but modern production, not being phased and making sure that the sound is paramount and kept special. Mekong Delta play technical thrash metal, very much in the 80s vein, with the oh so familiar 80s style vocal delivery – a sound that used to be unashamedly metal singing and not some of the more recent shitting in your pants approach of recent bands. A truly refreshing sound as ‘The Cure’ comes racing out of the speakers. Mekong Delta deliver a CD of metal how they played it back in the day – this vein of music (call it 80s thrash) almost had an early power metal feel to it. A special kinda vibe \m/ Mark Freebase
