First impressions of this is that they sound a like Mastodon and I’m sure they’ve heard that comparison before but they could even be compared to The Cardiacs in parts and I’m sure they’ve never heard that comparison before!! Anyway, back to the album it does lack a bit of depth but maybe that is what they were going for but for me a bigger production would have been better especially as they have 3 guitars and all of them do vocal duties. I do like the off beat, different time signatures (hence The Cardiacs) and bizarrely and I don’t know why, but I like this. Part of me is annoyed that I do but part of me thinks why not think outside the metal/hardcore box? I love “Pompeii (The Butcher)” track but my favourite song changes with each listen which is a good thing right?
If you want something a bit left of centre than the usual screaming bands then give this a listen, you never know you might like it… go on you know you want to don’t you!! Paul Hoddy
