Sun Gods In Exile – Thanks for the Silver CD (Small Stone Records)
More Southern rock tinged RnR from the ever reliable Small Stone records. Although hailing from Portland, SGIE sound like they were born and raised in biker bars of the deep South, perfectly capturing the vibe of bands such as the Allman Brothers, Blackfoot and Skynryd (particularly those guitar solos), along with a twist of AC/DC (opening track ‘Hammer Down’ could easily have graced any of the Bon era albums) or the organ driven sound of the Black Crowes at their peak. Excellent stuff. Ian Pickens
