Black Butler series 1 – part 2 DVD (Manga Entertainment)
One phrase keeps springing to mind “I’m simply one hell of a butler”… If you are a cartoon – loving – manga – style – entertainment junkie, then I’m sure you’re guna love this. (I am not, and I very nearly sent the discs back to Tim actually!!! But I thought – give it a try…) 328 minutes for this collection, 328 minutes that once I started to watch, I could not leave it alone… I needed that Black Butler fix! Ciel Phantomhive is a well spoken, well educated, but opinionated and spoilt young man, with obvious anger management issues! His loyal (but can he be trusted) butler, Sebastian, looks after his every need, offering great advice, and constantly seeming to have his masters best wishes at heart… as the tail(s) unfold, dark twists and thought provoking situations occur, asking the same repeated question – is the butler Sebastian good or dangerously devious with other motifs? Based in Victorian England, understandable life experiences are addressed and portrayed through manga style cartoon artwork (with basic movements and details / colours). The butlers advisory visions of next episode capers feed the craving for you to follow the story… all the way to the unexpected end twist (12 episodes + 1 extra feature episode make up this package) and I’m surprised how graphic some scenes are (adding that adult edge) when the (good!?!) angel is speared against the wall, with bloody consequences. The craving is re-stoked by a trailer for new series ‘Black Sushi Chef’. What have I gotten myself addicted to this time……… Mark Freebase
