It’s been said plenty of times, that hardcore is, essentially, rock n roll and the bands who seem to grasp that, find a special place among the hardcore community. Take Blood For Blood, who despite being hard-hitting, are also very much in touch with their, albeit depressing, emotions, and as you might expect from this intro Wisdom In Chains are just that sort of band. This Dutch-American strong hold are about life, and so much more. At the same time, ‘Top Of The World’ has an amazing Eminem street-credibility. Whereas a song like ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ is an angry stompin’ motherfucker of a song, and opener ‘Defend Protect’ is what you’d expect from NYHC bands, a slow intro that builds anticipation for the aggressive and fast track that follows in tried and trusted Sick Of It All fashion.
