I’m not really a big fan of black metal, there’s the odd band or two I like, the few CDs I have, but I do rate Immolith, and I will say they are fucking crushing! The U.S. black metal band was apparently hand picked by Infernus (of Gorgoroth) for his Forces Of Satan Records, and I can see why. It’s full on barrage of riffing, raspy spat vocals, and intensive drum beating leads to an extensive no frills – no hold ups metal assault. Classical opener ‘The Invocation’ sets a steady atmosphere ready to be ripped apart by (track 2) ‘Torch Of Baphomet’. 8 tracks of true black metaaaaaaaaaaal.. Including some classic song titles ‘The Ghost Tower Of Inverness’, ‘A Pact Of Blood’, ‘The Obsidian Throne Of Azazel’. The title track ‘StormDragon’ has almost a trad metal feel with its mid-pace and dueling guitars, which obviously leads to the obligatory bombast of the black metal assault…. All hail Satan!
