The depth, originality and technique, of the aptly titled ‘We Are The Sound’ gives bands like BoySetsFire or Dredg a run for their money, and it’s only on here, where this amazing debut album takes off. With a singer to rival all the big names in rock, metal and hardcore alike AND with the addition of an amazing sounding violinist, which reminds me of The Levellers best work, things can only keep going up and up and up for Siamese Fighting Fish. And up is the right direction, as the quality of this Danish band is out of this world. Listen to ‘For You’, an incredible deminstration of what singer Mirza is capable of. You can hear it, you can touch it. Be careful though as like wings of a beautiful butterfly it’s fragile, and it’s better to admire it’s beauty from a distance. And as anger is also an important emotion, there’s a nice balance with several songs that can go all out with hard hitting riffs and terrifying screams. We don’t rate releases at Mass Movement, but whether it’s numbers or letters the highest score is the only possible outcome for ‘We Are The Sound’. Martijn Welzen
