Delicious fast and melodic punk rock the way we like to digest it, in large quantities until our hearts give in. ‘This Season Needs Torches’ is a drug.. At first you might think it’s just another band trying to copy The Descendents, but Sweet Empire grow on you. Maybe it’s because I have that beautiful gatefold cover lying in front of me while the beautiful blue vinyl is spinning round and round. Maybe it’s also because the lyrics, although they seem based on hope and hapiness have a deeper meaning, and deal with assorted issues, from animal rights, to how money rules the phamacutical industry, to organised religion. The torches are being lit and it’s time these young guys showed everyone that punk is still alive and we’re not gonna take it any more…. Martijn Welzen
