Various – This is Peterborough Thrice CD (Rowdy Farrago Records)
Third and sadly it appears final instalment of this series chronicling the alternative music scene of Peterborough. 21 tracks from bands representing a variety of styles from the melodic Sum 41-ish The Fake Exterior to the melodic post hardcore of Fallen Breaks, via the folksy whimsy of Pennyless to the jangly indie guitar sounds of The Fleeting Minds. As you’d expect it’s a mixed bag and obviously my affections lie more with the punkier progeny of Peterborough particularly the energetic ferocity of Headfuct, the street punk sounds of The Destructors and Dun2Def and the experimental metal of Pet Slimmer of the Year. All in all it’s a nice primer for some of the up and coming talent of Peterborough and like Volumes 1 and 2 worth picking up to check out the new blood and maybe make contact with some likeminded individuals in the area.
